Does anyone know of a really nice sit down family restaurant in the Troy, Michigan area?

JohnAnn2 asked the question:

I have family coming in from out of town and would like to take them to a nice restaurant for dinner.
They older teenage children so I’m looking for a family restaurant that is not also a bar like where most of the customers are singles looking for a pick up.
It’s okay if they serve beer & wine, etc. just not one that has a big bar as the main focus.
Any ideas?

I would just cook a nice meal for them, but am handicapped and unable to.

Sorry I’m from Australia but I did a little search and found a site with heaps of places to eat in and around Troy.
    ,&near=Troy,+MI,+United+States+of+America&fb=1&view=text&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=more-results&cd=2

And I think there should be a map on there too.

Good luck with the search :)

Sweet Lorraine’s has locations in Detroit, Southfield and Livonia. They are vegetarian friendly and support the Humane Society’s efforts against seal hunting plus they’re members of FarmEx which is a local food exchange. They’ve won tons of awards for their food as well as their wine list: I think the teenagers would probably appreciate the mindset of the restaurant as well as the food and the option to go vegetarian if they desire… and no one would be disappointed as it’s rated by Zagat as one of Michigan’s Ten Best Restaurants. You can even send your friends an “e-vitation” from the web site.

Sandwiches and burgers are about $9, Appetizers are $5 to $8, Salads and Sides are about $4 to $5, Main Courses are about $15 to $20, Desserts are $5 to $6. If you’d like to have the meal at your home, but are simply unable to cook for a crowd, the Southfield location does catering. Orders over $100 are delivered for free. Main dishes serve 6 to 8 and are about $100 to $115, and you can get Garden Salad for 10-12 people for about $30. They make really decent looking disposable dishes now, so you wouldn’t even have much in the way of clean-up. (Just a thought…)

Another place that’s fun, incredibly delicious, showcases some local favorites like pierogies, kielbasa, but has other Eastern European dishes that are much lighter like grilled salmon and pasta primavera, is Christine’s Cuisine in Ferndale: They are AMAZINGLY inexpensive but the food is just incredible!
